Projects: Lobster House
This project was built as a Guest House in Camps Bay.
The building has was designed as six apartments clipped onto a central building, housing the main communal space. The core is a complex concrete structure forms the support of the cantilevering steel structures. Each apartment was awarded a sea view. The interior is a combination of clean, sleek finishes and earthy, warm, natural materials.
Generously sized openings accessing various outside areas were used to incorporate the unique contextual elements that the site has to offer, mainly both mountain and sea views.
The installation of a heat pump instead of conventional air-conditioning and underfloor heating as well as the use of structural timber, wooden decks, floors and windows contribute to a low carbon impact and make it an eco-friendly building.
Jeanette worked together with Cocoon Architects, who to create this building.
